Atlanta, Georgia Speed Traps

On the big hill on Houston Mill Rd near the Emory Alumni House, there is often a speed trap midway down the hill (on the left when driving towards Lavista, and on the right when driving towards Clifton).

Atlanta Police on stationary motorcycles nab morning drive folks violating the 25 MPH speed limit zone as they round the curve.

Dekalb County Police set up right at entrance ramp from Shallowford Rd. They set up with multiple cars using laser to catch you as you come around the right hand curve approaching the Shallowford exit ramp. Usually there is a DPD car sitting in the right emergency lane past the curve right after the Shallowford entrance ramp. I travel that route everyday and see that setup in bursts. Avoid it by watching for brake lights well ahead as you approach the exit ramp. You can see them from under the bridge and slow down in time. However, I have been let through even doing 75 so they are after the big violators.

Atlanta police sit there with a radar gun in a 25 mph zone and catch people going west on the long straight away.

The trap is located several blocks on Central Avenue SW (near the I-20 overpass). Georgia State Patrol and/or Atlanta Police are usually on bikes hidden just north near Alice Street.
