Atlanta, Georgia Speed Traps
I-75N between Howell Mill Rd & Moores Mill Rd
Marked and unmarked patrol cars and motorcycles regularly work this stretch. Here, I-75 is not clearly posted at the ridiculously low 55 mph for this part of I-75. Locals will drop down to 70 mph and congestion is created, but you can get by at that speed.
Peachtree Road just north of Buckhead before Dresden
Speed limited changes from 45 to 35 in this area. Officers sit on motorcycles at the Starbucks at Colonial Drive or other areas north and south of there to catch people who don’t see the speed limit has changed.
Briarcliff Road between N Decatur Rd and LaVista Road
At N Decatur turning right onto Briarcliff near Kay Lane (multiple cars parked at curb w/radar).
285 Southside Between I-75 S Exit & I-85 N Exit
The Clayton County cops are hiding in the shadows of the huge underpass area of Atlanta airport’s 5th runway – taxiway tarmac that goes over the interstate. I rarely goes this area, but I was en-route to pick up some appliances. On the way back a couple of hours later someone was pulled over in the other direction also. Daylight/ 11:00, dry pavement, medium traffic.
Briarcliff Road and Kay Lane (near Briarcliff & Johnson)
Driving north on Briarcliff Road you will come down a fairly steep hill as you approach Johnson Road and then Clifton Road. Police are often stationed in the entrance to Campus Crossings apartments (1659 Briarcliff Rd). They will pull over drivers coming down the hill. They pull over multiple drivers at a time. They are stationed there several days a week (generally, but not always, weekdays).
