Baldwin, Georgia Speed Traps
The lights for the Baldwin School zone is flashing all day long. It was flashing even during the Thanksgiving holidays. One end of the zone is flashing while the other end is off. This zone is monitored by camera and they send out traffic tickets with your picture. This is wrong!!
Leaving the intown traffic light on 441 S, after topping a small hill. Area is lined for miles with construction zone barrels although it is several miles to the actual construction. Radar will be located on the downhill before you get to the 65mph limit sign.
Baldwin PD sets within 200yds before speed limit sign, nail you before u can slow down for the speed limit change. I had my cruise set @ 54 within the 10 mile buffer @ they nailed me @ 61 over 45, when I asked to see the RADAR to confirm speed, he said he could not get me out @ show me for my safety because it was @ night, I asked the officer to mark the tape for court, @ court the tape was played, the judge dismissed the ticket. Due to fact he didn’t show me the RADAR. I know the GA speed laws fairly well however 1/1000 people do know them. Rarely take time to fight tickets. Towns like this one are getting rich from speed traps like this.
Baldwin police will stop anyone, anytime, on the four lane highway. They cover about a one mile stretch of the road. It is heavily traveled by motorists going to the Smoky Mountains for vacations. Watch out!
Small town at Banks-Habersham county line where speed limits drops from 55 to 45 on four-lane highway. Baldwin Police sit in restaurant parking lots and in medians, looking for speeders. It’s very easy to go too fast moving across the top of the hill or when you are going down the hill. Definitely a speedtrap.
