Hiltonia, Georgia Speed Traps
US HWY 24 Just West of Hiltonia as the speed drops to 40 MPH
When traveling from Augusta Georgia to Savannah on US HWY 24, the speed limit drops from 55 to 40 (which I apparently did not see) right before a curve. right after a curve, there will be a traffic cop (approximately 250-300 lbs…go figure) and he will not cut you a break at all! The county will take the points off the ticket, but I will be paying 210 dollars because I missed a speed limit sign…
Highway 24 north of highway 301
I had a hearing before their “judge” and there was a very large crowd having hearings. Had not had a ticket in 40 years, nor an accident. She dropped the points, but not the $175.00 because it is all about money. A simple sign reading your speed would help you but they prefer making money. Travel a different route and save yourself some money.
State Hwy. 24, several miles from intersection of State Hwy. 24 and U.S. Hwy 301
Hiltonia is a small town supporting itself with revenues from speeding tickets. State Hwy. 24 (2 lane, low traffic) is an alternate route to U.S. 25 when travelling between Augusta and Savannah. Speed limit drops from 55 to 35 as you round a curve and that’s where "the man" sits. Don’t take this scenic route (hwy. 24), stay on U.S. 25. I know 6 people, including myself, who have contributed to the Hiltonia, GA Police Dept.
