Marietta, Georgia Speed Traps
Marietta Police in all black SUVs and cars will sit on sides and median (where possible) of Whitlock Avenue, the main thoroughfare from the Marietta Square to west Cobb County at various locations including business strip center parking lots, private business driveways and the Marietta High School. The good thing is its so traffic clogged that you seldom get the chance to speed on this road!
Cobb County Police will sit on either side of Dallas Highway (SR 120) in various locations including heading eastbound at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery behind the massive power line pole, heading westbound on a couple of short paved offroads before the Chevron gas station. They used to have white patrol vehicles but they changed to black to better hide from taxpayers. They generally will give you 5 mph over but beyond that beware.
Cobb County Police have recently been hiding in the middle/turn lane, right after the crest on the hill (if you are headed towards Johnson Ferry, eastbound.) You cannot see the cop until it is too late. They also use this to catch westbound drivers once they pass that little church (before Twin Lakes.)
A Community Association using illegally mounted HD cameras to record license plate images for their own use in Chattahoochee Plantation, Atlanta CC, and Chattahoochee River NRA area. Have fought against these license tag cameras…and have failed so far. Even Bob Ott thinks cameras mounted over county roads is OK!
Motorist need to beware of cyber-security and id-threat from crooked Community Association here!
If you live in East Cobb then you have used Indian Hills Parkway as a cut through. The neighborhood association pays off duty cops to patrol the hood and they OFTEN sit at this 4-way stop to ticket all those California rollers. They’ll sit on Sentry and watch IH Parkway. Be safe out there!
