Smyrna, Georgia Speed Traps

The Smyrna PD sits at the end of the road that leads to the student parking lot of Campbell High School. They have 4-5 police officers that sit out there and clock the students coming out of there. Students, be careful they will not be afraid to pull you over. They sit in the parking lot where Monterray (the mexican resturaunt) is. They stand on the side of the road out of their car/motorcycle and clock you. Be careful!

A few miles of highway between South Cobb Dr. and Floyd Rd (especially between South Cobb and Highlands Pkwy) on the East-West Connector is one of the worst and most common traps I see around the metro Atlanta area. There is usually a motorcycle cop with the radar gun and 3 or 4 cop cars doing the pull-overs. It burns me up every time I see them there because safety is NOT the issue!

Spring Hill Parkway between Mt. Wilkinson Pkwy and Cumberland Blvd. There is a steep downhill grade into a 30 mph zone. Smyrna sets up shop under the Cumberland Blvd and railroad overpasses. Coming the other way there is a sharp curve so you can’t see them.

Usually behind shurbs, trees, and a hill North of intersection for South bond (@ Ford dealership). The same for North bound but South of the intersection (@ hospital). Any 4 lane is this city is trap zone. Everyday, as long as the uniforms won’t get wrinkled.

This is THE WORST stretch of road in Smyrna. It’s right by the 2 golf courses and going in either direction. There’s a cruiser that sits on the golf course side partially hidden and waiting for you while you’re about 2000 ft away. Almost everyone I have talked to (including other cops) say to be especially careful there. Another spot is Windy Hill at night going from 41 to I-75. There’s a cruiser that will sit in the dealership entrance with his headlights on, but you cant see his headlights until you drive by and its much too late by then. But if you’re goin like 5-10 over, and you DO NOT take of fast from the light at 41 going back towards the golf courses, then the cruiser will follow you until the QT station and then turn around.
