Tyrone, Georgia Speed Traps
Tyrone Rd
Better watch out when you see the speed limit drop to 35mph. These guys are really hungry!
Tyrone Rd inside the city limits of Tyrone Ga
Speed limit posted is 35 mph and it is constantly patrolled by officers. It is extremely hard to do 35 mph. It is a country road that should be posted at least 50 mph.
Tyrone, Fayette County, Georgia, United States
This is a lovely southern good old boy town run entirely by men and they use traffic traps as a major source of income for the city. My wife and I are retired and we have no need to speed anywhere!
We shopped at our favorite Antique shop and turn left on to Senoia Road.
Met an officer going the other way. There are 5 different speeds posted within a half mile speed trap area.
We were just content to paid the ticket but on talking to five or six or the business, each and everyone of them told us that the speed trap had been going on for years. So they changed our minds and instead of paying the ticket I had it transferred to State Court in Fayetteville.
Court had a new Judge who appeared to be very enlighten and progressive.
However the old entranched weight of the system even he could not help and we were found guilty to the tune of around $2000 dollars gone from our pockets.
Now for the best. The progressive judge asked me if I wanted a copy of the court case to be recorded. I turned to the Court Recorder and asked her in front of the Court and the Judge how much the cost would be and the court reporter replied $23.00 per hour so I agreed. When the trial was over she came over to say that that charge was just for the recording and I would have to pay an extra 200 – 300 to buy the copy. Fraud right there in a State Court.
Tyrone Road off 4-lane 74
Was clocked with police car coming toward me and said my speed was about 10 mph faster than I was going. Did not see a speed limit sign after turning off 74 onto Tyrone Road until after being stopped. Said speed limit was 35, but some signs show 40 in a sparsely populated area. Talked with town officials, but claim they make no exceptions regardless of reason. This was only time I have been in that area and was looking for directions on where to go.
Kirkley Road approaching OLV Catholic School/St. Matthew Chu
Officer positions patrol car just behind the trees (perpendicular to Kirkley Road) and a few feet past the 25mph School Speed Limit sign as you approach the entrance to Our Lady of Victory (OLV) Catholic School and St. Matthew Catholic Church. He’s usually there waiting for someone exceeding the school speed limit in the mornings around the beginning/end of the month. After making the turn onto Kirkley Road from GA 74 the posted limit is 45 mph and changes to 25 mph ca. 1/2 mile before the entrance to the school.
