Joliet, Illinois Speed Traps
State Route 53/Broadway St. near Ingalls Avenue
On Rt.53 (Broadway) in Joliet, just south of Ingalls ave, the police like to sit in the park and run radar. If you are comming from the north the speed limit drops from 40 to 35 to 30. They are pretty well hidden if you are comming from the south because there is a curve there.
Caton Farm Road
The cops go up and down this street (sometimes parking and hiding on side streets), often on a motorcyle. But just east of Essington Road is especially bad because speed limit drops from 40 west of I55 to 35 east of I55 to 25 or 30 east of Essinton. East of Essington is where they will really get you.
Black Road
The car will be parked behind the water dept (?) building on what is now forest preserve property just east of Rt.59 before you go over I55 bridge. They often use an unmarked SUV with lights that pop-up or somehting really different. Also do seatbelt checks here. Speed limit is 35-40 mph here.
Caton Farm Road near Essington Road
One officer will stand with a radar gun on the south side of Caton Farm approximately 1/4 mile east of the bridge over I-55. Squad cars will wait in parking lots all the way down Caton Farm until just past Essington road. This is almost always on a weekday morning before 11 am. Some mornings there will be what seems to be mass pull-overs in the parking lot of the Elementary school behind the CVS/Pharmacy parking lot. Also, there is usually a squad car sitting in the CVS/Pharmacy parking lot about 3 mornings a week.
