Joliet, Illinois Speed Traps
Theodore Street near Essington Road
This is right along the wetlands on Theodore. I have seen officers sitting in a chair along the side of the road clocking drivers in the morning. A cop will step out of the cul-de-sac area (right before Gaylord street) and motion you to pull in. There will be several squads lined up in there just waiting to write a ticket. They also will park on the side road right before the dentist office to clock you as you drive by. You can’t see them until it’s too late. Be careful. The speed limit is only 30
Caton Farm Road near Frontage Road
Clocking cars east and west bound on Caton Farm Road between Frontage road (I-55) and essington. There is one speed limit sign at Lilly Cache road going east and there is not another one till just before essington.
Midland Avenue near Dirksen School
On School days, school speed limit is 20 mph and is Strictly enforced during the mornings and afternoons when students are going to school and getting out. Squad car usually present in front of school.
On weekends, squad car often hides nearby school to enforce 30 mph limit. Most traffic travels 40-45 so it’s an area ripe for tickets.
Houbolt Road near Cathy Drive
Two squads sit side by side at the entrance to the Joliet Junior College.
Briggs Street
Just south of the East Joliet Fire Department on Briggs. A squad car, sometimes marked, sometimes not is usually looking for speeders.
