Morris, Illinois Speed Traps
On IL Rt 47 south of the IL river and north of IL Rt 113
Grundy County Sheriff cars love to patrol this stretch of Rt 47 since this is pretty open country and invites speeds over the legal 55 mph limit. This is especially true in the morning "rush" and evening "rush" of workers coming and going between Coal City/Braidwood/Mazon towns and Morris.
West Jefferson and Fremont
25 MPH speed limit all the way from downtown heading west on Jefferson which turns into Fremont. A white SUV usually hiding along parked cars on the side of the road, usually catching morning drivers heading to work, waiting for you to go over the 25 mile and hour speed limit.
Gore Rd. going West off of Lisbon Rd. and past Richie Bros.
Coming off of Lisbon Rd. and heading west there are a couple subdivisions and the speed limit is 25, but passing by them at that speed is tough. But… after crossing a creek and getting beyond what needs to be 25 mph, the road for some reason is now labeled 25 mph way out on Gore Rd. to past Richie Brothers Auction site. Now this may make sense on the occasional busy auction day, but for some reason…they have it 25 mph all the time. This is a very very difficult place to maintain a slow pace as it is out in the country.
Gore Rd. between Lisbon Rd. and Rt. 47
This is a long open stretch with a 25 mph speed limit all…the…..way… It is difficult for drivers to maintain that slow pace on such a long section of open road, on an area seemingly outside of town. Police will often sit at the banquet hall next to the theater and pick people off.
Union Street after turning off of Bedford Rd. (rt. 6)
Normally 25 mph, but during the school days with childeren present the speed drops to 20 and the unmarked silver car will sit facing north and catch anyone going over 20 no matter what. Atleast 2-3 people a day getting pulled over.
