Port Barre, Louisiana Speed Traps
Highway that goes through town.
It goes from 65 to 45 rather abruptly just before traffic lights. I slowed down to stop at the red light and was clocked at 54 while I slowed down. I even stopped at the light and was pulled over after the the light turned green. Being a former police officer myself, I can 100% say that this is a speed trap and money grab. I have told all of my friends and family and to this day, they make it a point to text me when traveling through Port Barre that they didn’t stop or get gas in that area. Im sure this has caused way more damage for Port Barre than the money they have made off of frivolous tickets.
I 49 north and south where speed limit drops from 75 to 70
Just passed three units. 2 north bound and 1 south bound sitting less than 2 miles after speed limit drops from 75 to 70 on I 49. We were driving through same the same area 48 hrs ago. Tried to explain we were coming up to exit in left lane next to three vehicles and sped up as not to miss the exit. Didn’t matter. Guess this area makes them too much money in speeding tickets. Anyone coming thru this area please beware.
Highway 190
Chase Bank on the westbound lane, the rest area on westbound lane next to Bayou Teche. Eastbound by Smoke’N’Go and Ventura Foods.
East bound on 190 just before 45 changes to 65 mph.
Cop waits just before the speed limit sign that increases to 65 and will stop you if you are increasing from 45 prior to reaching the 65 sign. Gave me a ticket for going 53, which she reported to be her magic number for writing a ticket. You can see the 65 mph sign from the last 45 mph sign. Obvious trap.
