Belleville, Michigan Speed Traps
6900 block of Belleville Rd
Just north of Ecorse, on the east side of the road, Van Buren Twp police hide in the parking lot of a church. For southbound traffic, the trap looks like a car parked in the lot. For northbound traffic, the police car is totally hidden by the church building.
I94 South Service Rd, East of Rawsonville Rd
Van Buren Twp police hide in the K-Mart parking lot. Sometimes they are in the south end, near the Tim Horton’s. Other times, they are further east, near the Dunham’s Sporting Goods store. Frequently, they will use unmarked vehicles. They are hard to notice because they blend in with the shopping center customers also parking there.
Belleville Rd and Quirk Rd
The Van Buren Twp Police hide on Quirk RD, just north of the bridge over Belleville lake. The frequently use unmarked vehicles and are hard to notice. From this vantage point, they can pick off motorists heading either north or south on Belleville Rd. The speed limit drops from 35 to 30 just north of the bridge, but the road lends itself to higher speeds and therefore is a good source of “tax” revenue for the Van Buren Twp Police.
Bemis Road & Elwell, Sumpter Township
Either Sumpter or Van Buren Township Police. Sometimes unmarked burgundy car. There are a set of trees they park near at this corner.
Haggerty Rd between Tyler & Ecorse
Van Buren Police sit on west side of Haggerty in an entrance drive to a building. The weeds are grown up around driveway entrance. They are invisible from both directions of travel.
