Coon Rapids, Minnesota Speed Traps
Coon Rapids Boulevard near Foley Boulevard
Going west on CR Blvd over the bridge past Foley Blvd, there is a hill to your right with a street right after it, I believe that is CR Extension, cops like to sit there.
Coon Rapids Boulevard near Avocet Street
The entire area between 610 and Avocet is a huge speed trap (massive numbers of tickets are written there, but honestly the 45-55 mph limit is not that low for the road).
Further, E River Road is a speed trap.
Hundreds to thousands of tickets are likely written there yearly, you can see cars pulled over daily.
Oh and Coon Rapids does not deal on speeds, it will go on your record, just don’t speed there.
US Highway 10
All along HWY 10 Coon Rapids PD will hide in the median behind bridges or sit on the on ramps to catch passing traffic.
State Highway 610 near Coon Rapids Boulevard
The area of the onramp to MN HWY 610 from Coon Rapids Blvd., is a 65 MPH, three lane straightaway. The local poilce like to park their cars on a second onramp that merges from the Metro Transit Park and Ride barely 1/4 mile away. There, they are shielded from traffic (i.e. speeders) by a cement lane barriers, and are only noticeable to those merging from the Coon Rapids Blvd. onramp (thats how I found them).
State Highway 242 near Flintwood Street
Westbound Main ST(242)@ Flintoowd St. The police will sit facing North bound on flintwood, on the southside of 242. They prefer to get motorists going westbound which is further into their jurisdiction, however on occasion they work with the Blaine police to get people going eastbound into Blaine;s jurisdiction. The speed limit is 55, if you are going eastbound into blaine, as soon as you pass university the limit drops to 50 BEWARE!
