Hwy 7 just East of 494 (No Speed Limit Sign!)

Minnetonka Police are sitting on hwy 7 waiting for cars to exit from 494. They know 494 has a 60 mph limit and Hwy 7 has a 50 mph limit. Here’s the Trap; there isn’t a speed limit sign yet!! Police are sitting in the median well before the sign. They know motorist are coming off a faster Hwy and don’t have the benefit of a speed limit sign yet. The sign is approximately 1/2 mile down Hwy 7 (Baker Rd area). They are desperate for money. The officer approached me, handed me the ticket, and took off. He didn’t even ask me for insurance info.

Minnetonka Blvd between shady oak rd and plymouth rd

There is usually a squad car parked on the curb on the north side of the road facing west. I drive this road often and 50% of the time there is someone pulled over by the police. Also, there are several businesses there where they can hide in the parking lots in order to ambush you. The speed limit drops from 40 mph to 30 mph between these two roads and they are always pulling people over.

Hwy 7 East, just past I-494 and approaching Baker Road

Minnetonka, MinnesotaNov 30, 20100 Comments

While heading East on Hwy 7 (SR-7), after you pass Williston Rd. begin to slow down, even before you reach the junctions to 494. After you are above 494 reduce your speed dramatically, especially if you are driving with the flow of traffic. There is usually an officer (marked or unmarked) sitting under the Baker Road underpass in the median, preparing to tag you there and you will probably be waved off to Shady Oak on the right even after you may think you have not be gotten.
