Sparks, Nevada Speed Traps
El Rancho Drive @ Garfield Drive
Sparks PD motorcycle officers sit at corner of El Rancho and Garfield. El Rancho has no speed limit signs from Greenbrae Dr to McCarran Blvd on NB, one 30 mph on SB hidden in trees. The Sparks / Reno city limits bounce back and forth across El Rancho so neither city takes responsibility to post speed limit signs.
Victorian Ave between Pyramid and McCarron
They sit on the north side of the street parked in between other cars parked in front of local businesses. Mostly NHP but I have seen Sparks PD there as well. Usually afternoon.
Sparks Blvd. near Disc Dr.
Police will sit in Whitney Circle and catch speeders coming NB on Sparks over the small hill from Satellite Drive.
N. McCarran between Pyramid and 395
NHP regularly pulls over speeders in both directions through this stretch, although it’s usually WB in the morning rush and EB in the afternoon.
Interstate 80, east of Sparks
They “say” they use aircraft and operate in packs of Nevada State Police and pull over every other car. I got a ticket and they said it was “no contest” due to aircraft reading my speed.
