Alamogordo, New Mexico Speed Traps
On our way out of white sands national monument towards Ruidoso, there are constant and I mean constant shifts in speed limits ranging from 45, 55, 65 and 70. I had passed a 65 mph zone that apparently dropped to 55. I was going with the flow of other motorists. The state trooper came out of nowhere. ..good hiding spot apparently. I didn’t contest the infraction thinking I would get a warning because I was going with flow of other motorists. I got a $87 ticket. Just in time for Christmas and our winter vacation (from Texas). I suspect I wasn’t the only one this kid looking trooper stopped on this day.
before 13th or 14th street where the speed limit increases from 35 to 45. law enforcement utilizes stalker lidar (laser radar). easy to increase speed to 45-50 as the 45MPH sign is in easy view, less than a 1/4 mile ahead…SPEED TRAP!
city cops hide to the North of the 35 mph street and when you see them it is too late. They are about 100 yards East of the truck stop.
Rolling radar at morning and evening rush hours.
Parked on shoulder in front of Auto Wrecking yard.
In median just east of the Holloman turn-off, coming from the east, there is just enough rise in the road to hide the officer until you crest the slight rise.
If you are going west on Fairground, they hide in the Fairgrounds parking lot. By the time you see them its too late.vg
