New York City, New York Speed Traps
Van Wyck Expressway near JFK Airport
Port Authority Police have a new Unit that has targeted speeders on the southbound Van Wyck Expressway. They have the new Dodge Chargers so they are easy to spot but if your over 70 its too late they take you down.
Tri-Boro Bridge Crossing near Just before Astoria Ave Exit
sits outside his Highway Cruiser, in an extra breakdown lane, on the East bound Tri-Boro Bridge just as it enters Queens. Just before the Astoria Blvd exit and that overpass there. Basically impossible to see him. Limit is 40/45 IIRC and most traffic is doing 65+MPH. Ouch!
Henry Hudson Expressway near 158th Street
Heading southbound on the Henry Hudson highway in New York, there is a police cruiser that waits for cars near the exit at around 158th street. Be careful around the curve since he catches vehicles there around 1-2 AM.
Henry Hudson Parkway near Before the Tolls
Northbound on the Henry Hudson Parkway there is a hill right before the tolls. The posted speed limit is 35 but traffic is usauly moving at around 70MPH. Most of the time there are about 4 cars two pulled over getting speeds and the other pulling cars over. This Speed trap is not very comon but is something you should look out for. Also the LEO normaly are using laser so you detectors will not alert. I recommend going 50 around the turn they won’t pull you over for that they are looking for the big speeders.
Interstate 95 near Co-op City
Police count on most people not realizing or forgeting that the highway speedlimit in NYC limits is 50MPH, not 55. My friend was busted doing 62 by Co-op City.
