Poughkeepsie, New York Speed Traps
Town of Poughkeepsie Police and NY State Troopers sit in the driveway of the Central Hudson electric sub-station facing east with radar. Sometimes they are pulled back even further by sub-station gate and cannot be seen until you are completely past the facility. Make sure you’re not doing more than 45 m.p.h. on the uphill westbound approach. Huge ticketing spot around quota time at the end of the month.
NY State Trooper sits on Howard Rd. facing west, well-hidden by trees and brush. This spot is directly across from the LaGrange Firehouse #2 at Firemens’ Way. Speed limit is 45 m.p.h. but you can easily be doing over 55 on the downhill coming from Vail Rd.
Town of Poughkeepsie Police and NY State Troopers sit in the private driveway behind The Storage Depot, west side of the building. Well-hidden in daytime. Police will usually have marker lights on at night. Speed limit is 45 m.p.h. but left-lane is usually moving at 55, especially during morning rush-hour.
cop sets up at either end and sometimes in the middle and get speeders either way. 30 mph zone but country road and everyone forgets as it is rural
This one’s new: right as Route 9 becomes a freeway in the City of Poughkeepsie, a city cop sits in plain sight at the EXIT sign. It jumps to 55 right there, which is pretty reasonable; just be aware.
