State Route 9 near Mid Hudson Bridge area
Anywhere on Route-9 in the area of the Mid Hudson Bridge. The speed limit varies from 40 to 55 mph with the lower speed limits being on the north end of this area near Marist College. The city police are somewhere in the area almost daily and seem to be doing a brisk business. It appears that it would pay to stay pretty close to the posted limits in this area.
Creek Road near Dutchess Comunity College
Officer patrols Creek Road in front of the college. Speed limit drops to 25 mph on that section of Creek. Also can be seen sitting in the acess driveway for delivery trucks to Hudson Hall.
Jackson Road near New Hackensack Road
As you come down the hill on Jackson Rd heading towards New Hackensack Rd, there is a park with a big parking lot on your right at the bottom of the hill. The speed limit here is 35, but rolling down the hill you can easily get going 45-50 if you’re not paying attention. The cops will sit in the parking lot for the park which has a wide open view of the road. It makes a good place because they can sit pretty far back in the park and still shoot radar or whatever. I see the police there once or twice a month, usually around AM or PM rush hour.
Raymond Avenue near Vassar College
Going towards hooker ave., before you hit Vassar College’s main gate, usually a cop car with lights off at night waiting to get you. 30mph is the limit, and if you’re going even 40mph you’ll get nailed. I hear the sirens all night long from my dorm room… no way a town like this has that much crime. Nope.. definitely speeding tix.
