Richmond (Korean Memorial) Parkway before Arthur Kill Rd int

Staten Island, New YorkDec 09, 20100 Comments

On Parkway heading towards the Arthur Kill Rd…I get on at Arden Ave entrance, and where it suddenly slows from 50 to 40 and then a ridiculous 30 mph right before the overpass, I got snagged with a $200 fine plus $300 surcharge for a 3yr period ($100 per year). That’s an easy $500 ticket plus 6 points on your license. I now go in the right lane and set my cruise to 40 then 30 and needless to say, everyone thinks you’re old and lame at that speed and either blow the horn, give you the finger, or stare you down. But believe me, when you get caught, it’s from a cop at the overpass clocking you and a cop waiting at the new parking area at the light who tickets you. Got caught at 7am on a Sat. Believe me, most people never slow down and are exceeding 50mph without getting caught. I did though. Lesson learned the expensive way.

Veterans Road South, Between Foster and Maguire

Staten Island, New YorkAug 13, 20100 Comments

When traveling the service road to the Korean Memorial Parkway, between Maguire Avenue and Foster Road, going towards Foster, beware of the unmarked Crown Victoria 2/3 up on the right side. Especially in the morning hours. Speed limit is 35 mph and they mean it. I set my cruise control for 35 so I won’t exceed the limit on that stretch. They will get you. My wife was in a hurray one day, she forgot the cop is always there, and voilla, $135 ticket. They are always there! Repeat after me. They are always there!
