Columbus, Ohio Speed Traps
Cleveland Ave. / North of 5th Ave/ South of 11th?
Heading South on Cleveland into downtown there is an overpass which I-71 traffic travels on… it looks like a tunnel. Just past that there is a couple lots one either side where they take pictures. I see them out there all the time but have never seen them with someone stopped. Coffee and Donuts…. not sure but their Radar is on at this local a couple times a week.
I-270, between Easton Way, and the I-670/62 exit
This is a dangerous strip of 270. Most of the Northeast side of 270 is columbus, but this portion is Gahanna. They sit in the middle of the road between the median. They can be there at any time of day, but it’s mostly in the middle of the night. The speedlimit is 65, but even 70 will bring them down on you. With the normal columbus cops, you get up to 75, which is why it’s dangerous. Most people are unaware that the gahanna cops cover this section.
North Side of I-270 between 315 and Sawmill Road Exit
(West Bound)Cop sits just over an incline in the highway in targets people coming down into the river valley part of 270. Also sits in the shade of the I-270 Sawmill exit ramp and targets people on the long 3-4 mile straight away.
(East Bound) Cop sits under the incline as the highway dips into the valley and targets people back toward the 3-4 mile staight away.
Dodridge Ave, just east of Olentangy River Road
A cop is usually waiting on a small bridge on the north side of Dodridge, that leads to a cemetary. There are a few potential hiding places here, and there is usually a cop there. The speed limit is 35, and the trap is at the bottom of a hill, so you will probably be upto 40.
Frank Rd., Just west of I-71.
This area has had two motercycle accidents in less than a month, causing three deaths. They are watching it closely!
