Ottawa, Ontario Speed Traps
Brewer Way and Bronson Avenue
Police hiding behind the light post at the entrance to Brewer Park with a laser gun, catching motorists coming down the hill from the Airport Parkway where the speed drops from 80km/h to 70km/h over the bridge.
Centrepointe Drive at Tallwood Drive
Police officer with handheld radar gun seen hiding next to hedge on Kentsdale Dr. Trying to catch speeders on Centrepointe Drive or turning corner onto Tallwood Drive.
148 meadowlands drive west (St.Gregory School)
I believe a new speed trap has been set up on meadowlands drive west between viewmount and woodroffe right by the school. There was a cruiser parked up on the shoulder by the sidewalk. All lights off, seat adjusted back to make it look empty. They’re clocking speeds. Was through that area this evening again for the second night in a row and they had someone pulled over.
Old Montreal Road – Just before Cumberland Village
The road is long and winds a lot with many speed limit changes. The trap is set just after the speed limit changes to 50kph from 80kph. The cruiser is waiting near the fire station at the bottom of the hill.
Drastic speed limit change + downhill = perfect money grab.
It’s not about safety here, just cash.
Oglivie road West, Ken Steele Park beside Grace O’Malleys
Almost got a speeding ticket today (October 23, 2015). Speed limit is 60K on Oglivie Road, I was doing a little over 70K driving WEST on Oglivie Road and I almost sped up to beat yellow light at Oglivie Road and Aviation Parkway intersection but decided to stop before light turned yellow. Good thing I decided to stop and not speed up as there was unmarked Ottawa police car with radar on Oglivie Road WEST towards St. Laurent Blvd. The unmarked Ottawa Police car with active radar was sitting in entrance of Ken Steele park which is located beside Grace O’malleys restaurant. I have lived in the area for over 15 years, this is FIRST time I have seen police radar at Ken Steele park location.
