As you drive west on 99W and come down Rex Hill there is a fruit stand on the right hand side of the highway in front of a hazelnut orchard where Oregon State Police hide and use laser on anyone observed to be exceeding the 55 MPH speed zone. As you drop down Rex Hill into Newberg the first traffic light you come to, you will be seeing a 40MPH zone popping up. Local John Law hangs out on Providence Drive and Brutcher Street as well as in the Safeway parking lot (between 2nd and 3rd light coming down the hill into town from Sherwood). Speed goes from 55MPH to 40MPH, often enforced with one patrol car. Black and white usually with a low profile light bar on the roof. Motorists often cook down the hill after they notice the lack of State Troopers at the bottom of the hill and get nabbed coming into town in the 40MPH zone. The 25MPH zone is also enforced on 99W through the town so watch out. Motorcycle, slick tops, and regular patrol (with occasional white/brown county cars) run this area.
