The cop will let you pass his concealed position by ~100 yards, then race up behind you at speeds well over the posted limit. You instinctively speed up (unfortunately to a speed Over the limit) to avoid a rear-ending, and Bingo! He then turns the lights/siren on and relieves you of about $250 for you effort at avoiding an accident.

on the west end of town (closest to Walterboro) Cottageville police sit right on a curve at a bushy area and they even have their spot off the side of the road paved! At the east end of town, they just sit in parking lots like the gas station or any other available area.

The speed limit changes to 45 then 35 and you better not be over. They always hae someone pulled over and in the evenings they will do license checks as you approach town from the summerville side.
