Hardeeville, South Carolina Speed Traps
Hardeeville fuzz sitting in a van with automatic radar/camera facing oncoming traffic. They don’t pursue, just mail the tickets with pictures to the offenders.
Can bust 3 or more at a time, no pursuit necessary.
If you are traveling towards Hilton Head, be careful, the cops like to sit beyond a small bridge just out of sight till its WAY too late. Its right after you pass the new town of Tradition.
Near the 170 and Hwy.17 junction there is an old rest area in the center median. The town cops wait just behind a small cluster of trees and vegitation. This also a check point for random DOT stops so truckers beware. The cops mainly watch the 17N side(traffic entering the state).
The speed limit for 17N between 170junc. and the township of Hardeeville is 60 MPH, however the limit decreases to 45 as you hit the sign "City of Hardeeville". The town cops as well as state troopers(Silver Bullets) frequent this spot, and they take no prisoners.
When nearing the interstate 95 the speed limit changes from 60 mph to 45 mph. If your speed has not decreased when you pass the 45 mph sign be prepared to pay $180.
