Collegedale, Tennessee Speed Traps
Tallant Rd
Tallant Rd runs from Collegedale into county through predominately residential. Appears as typical county 2 lane but speed limit is 30 mph. Other road surrounding Collegedale are 35 to 45 mph. Road is patrolled heavily siting unsuspecting motorist. Appears this is by design.
Apison Pike between Tallent Rd and Eastview terrace
Police love to sit at either end of this straight stretch – no houses, no major intersections – but it’s a straight stretch….so beware. The limit here is 40mph. They sit there about 2-4 times per month. Now, beyond city limits on Apison Pike, the limit changes to a very ridiculous 30mph – even where there are only fields on either side! Fortunately only a sheriff patrols this area and doesn’t get there very often….

This out in the country you think but it is still in the city limits and is 35 mph. Most anywhere in collegedale city limits is 35 mph and most of it looks like country roads. They was motorcycles also.
Apison Pike Road near Interstate 75
A major construction project on I-75 at the Ooltewah exit is diverting a great deal of traffic through the Ooltewah-Collegedale area. The Collegedale Police have set up several radar points and follow drivers closely looking for the slightest of infractions to warrant pulling a car over and will issue citations based upon minor infractions. I would advise motorist to avoid the Collegedale area entirely.
