US 79 goes through Gibson and the speed limit abruptly drops from 55 mph to 30 mph. The law is waiting. To avoid getting caught, you had better stand on your brakes real quick. $142 for 39 mph in a 30 mph zone. They are out for revenue only. 2 squad cars and the speed zone isn’t a mile long.

US Highway 70/79 near The East side of town
On the east side of Gibson just inside of the city limits,
beware of Gibson Police located on left just as you top the hill after coming into town.
At night near the same location there is also very high enforcement of non-tolerance 30mph . The location mentioned is well past the downtown area.

Speed limit drops from 55 to 30. If you go 31, you’re busted.
US Highway 79
If you don’t live in Gibson, don’t EVEN think of using US 79 from Milan to Humboldt! Just go ahead and use US 45 S to TN 187 and bypass Gibson 100%. They’ll pull you over for just a few miles over the limit. Cops park in driveways and as usual, most people can’t afford to take the time off work to fight the ticket. Don’t go through this town at all!
