Piperton, Tennessee Speed Traps

Trap is approximately a half mile south of Raleigh-LaGrange Road on Highway 196 just inside Piperton city limit. Speed limit is 50 mph but the road is downhill and it is easy to go over a few mph. Patrol car sits on west side of road in an entrance to a farmer’s hay field.

Trapping under the guise of a construction zone at midnight. Trapping motorist returning to Mississippi at midnight hours under the guise of a construction zone speed when no workers or equipment are present. Actual construction is a new addition to four lane a two lane section. New lane construction run parallel across median.

This is a state hwy. that has previously had speeds of 55 mph. as the limit. There are no homes, or businesses other than a very few mom/pop stores which have been there for years. You are driving a practically empty highway, when suddenly the speed limit changes to 40 mph. and continues all the way to Collierville city limits. It is impossible to keep your vehicle @ 40mph. on this almost deserted highway unless you turn your cruise control on and keep it on all the way through! If you fail to turn it on and are distracted in your thought by talking to some one, etc. you will automatically drift up to 45 or 50 without even thinking! It just feels a more normal speed. And—- they are every where, in police cars, both marked and unmarked, hanging around like vultures to strike! I have been driving this mess for 6 months 2 times daily and using my cruise control, and the first time I forgot to use it I got cought on a lazy Sunday morning just after I passed the 40 mph. sign. I saw the black unmarked car and suddenly realized that I had forgotten to turn on my cruise control! So—- be careful and forwarned. I’ll blink my lights for you, but expect no sympathy from this bunch! However, they will wish you "have a good day" as they drive off for their next victim, which by now are mostly poor out of town vacationers,ect. All the locals are pretty wise to this mess!

country road that connects a 55 mph hwy and a 45 mph hwy. Very rural, contains maybe 5 houses on a 1 1/2 mile strip.
Posted at 30 mph – the sign off the 55 mph hwy is very close to the hwy – as you are trying to cross traffic it is easy to miss.

The widest and best road in Piperton has a 40 mile per hour speed limit.All other roads have a higher posted speed limit.This is strickly for the money it brings in.
