Arlington, Texas Speed Traps
Wbound on W.Park Row entering Pantego
At the bottom of a huge hill the speed limit also drops from 40 to 35. Pantego police sit on the north side in the strip mall parking lot. They WILL embelish the speed you are going! You must brake all the way down the hill or you’re toast.
US Highway 360
It’s really the Grand Prairie police that do it. About lunch time they will have a cop with a laser behind the green sign on the Post and Paddock bridge clocking drivers in the North Bound lane.
Russell Curry Road
Approximately one mile newly improved connecting road with bicycle paths between Green Oaks and EdenRussel Curry Road and previous posted 40 mph limit. Both improved Green Oaks Blvd. and non-improved Russell Curry Road have posted 40 mph limits. Reduced 30 mph speed limit posted on temporary signs held in place with sand bags. Violation ticket issued on Monday at 4:45 am for 44 mph following weekend posting of reduce speed limit. This is overzealous enforcement. Police should be issuing warning tickets until traffic adjusts to lower speed limit especially at 4:45 am when no bicycles or pedestrians will be on bicycle path until hours later.
Pioneer Parkway
Leaving Arlington and entering Fort Worth, the speed changes w/out notice from 55 to 40. We were not used to the area and were looking at scenery and missed the ’40’ sign. It sits among some trees. 2/10 of a mile past the ’40’ sign an officer sits. We explained we didn’t see the sign, he said it changed about a mile back. After receiving our ticket, we made a u-turn and went back to look for the sign. By the time we got back to where we were pulled over (about 2 minutes) he had someone else pulled over in the same spot. Definitely a speed trap.
Cooper Street
Between Hwy. 303 and University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) the speedlimit drops to 30 or 35 in some places – officers park in strip center lots between cars and stand next to their vehicle shooting traffic. Usually motorcycles standing by.
