360 Loop near US Highway 2222

Austin, TexasOct 09, 20080 Comments

Motorcycle patrol sits on N. Bound entrance from 2222 to 360. They target/catch people coming down from 360 bridge, which has a nice downgrade. Typically, there are two police, one who sits on the bike with the radar, and one a little ahead who stops and tickets…

Talleyran Drive near Rolling Oaks Drive

Trap started on 9/11. It is at the bottom of Talleyran hill. Speed limit is 30, very easy to be going 40-50 mph. 2 motorcycle popo at the bottom of the hill. I got pulled over 9/11 along with about 15 of my neighbors. Enforcement seems to be happening 2-3 times a week. Beware.

State Highway 45 Tollway near 183 to I-35

Austin, TexasSep 19, 20080 Comments

East and West SH 45 Tollway is frequently covered with DPS Troopers. No motorcycles…just DPS cars. They use Ka band radar and don’t use laser. I have had three tickets in 10 months. Two were for 7 miles over, the other was 8 over, what a joke. Nighttime is usually worse, especially in the 1 mile of dark area between Parmer and Mopac. They hide in the grass 200 feet off the road and you’ll never see them. This is the issue…the Williamson Co. Precinct One J.P. for the area (Judge Dain Johnson) covers all of 45 between 183 and SH-130…or the entire 45 Tollway. Troopers give tickets at 10% over (i.e. 77/70 or 71/65) It is 65 at night. Watch out, this is a ticket machine and the fines are very expensive.

Interstate I-35 near Grand Avenue Parkway

Austin, TexasSep 10, 20080 Comments

When taking the Grand Avenue Parkway exit off of the northbound interstate, speed drops from interstate speeds to a very slow feeling 50 mph on the frontage road. Shortly after making the exit, a motorcycle cop will be posted in the Theater parking lot, difficult to see behind landscaping clocking folks for 50mph. Most are still slowing down or on acceleration ramp preparing to enter the interstate…boom you are busted

Interstate 35N near Mile Marker 236

Austin, TexasAug 11, 20080 Comments

Usually three officers shooting radar. Usually you’ll see the first motor cycle cop on the left shoulder behind a concrete alcove under the 183 flyover. Very concealed. As you proceed for the next 3 miles, you’ll see either two other motorcycle officers or officers in cruisers that nearly unmarked on the right shoulder or median. The speed limit is 60 and it is a 10 lane interstate highway. However, it is a really dangerous section.
