Mopac Expressway & Enfield Rd. Exit

Austin, TexasJun 04, 20093 Comments

Traveling South on Mopac, taking the Enfield Rd. exit, the speed limit goes from 65 to 25 in about 100 yards. It’s ridiculous that the speed limit is 25 mph through there. The exit opens up into 2 lanes and there isn’t a school or anything significant on that street other than a few houses. Those that actually try to go 25 mph almost cause accidents because of others coming off Mopac too fast behind them. Haven’t actually seen cops enforcing the speed limit since I usually only come through there in the mornings on my way to work. However, I’m sure they work it and it is probably one heck of a ticket if you get caught.

Anderson Mill Road

On Anderson Mill Rd in between Hwy. 183 and FM-620 N (Ranch Rd.) they are redoing the road and it is solid construction. Well they drop the speed limit to 25mph and almost every time I drive down that road there are 2 to 3 motorcycle cops clocking people. So be careful and would not go over 30 mph that is for sure.

Motorcycle cop most of the time…hides behind turns in the road

FM-2222 (Ranch Rd.)

Austin, TexasJun 04, 20090 Comments

It’s not unusual to find motorcycle cops radaring between 8:30-4:00 on weekdays and mid-morning to late evening 7:30 on weekends. They tend to hide in the shade under the trees. They are most heavily concentrated between Mesa Drive and Mt. Bonnell Rd. They’ve recently started hiding in the drive slip of several condos at the bottom of Mt. Bonnell Rd and 2222. Again, I usually see them on weekdays between 8-4:00.

Northbound Mopac Loop

When you take the East 1st ( W. Cesar Chavez St.) /5th/Lake Austin Boulevard exit from NB Mopac and continue onto 1st Street, there are several motorcycle cops there many mornings…the speed limit goes from 65 on Mopac to 45 on 1st Street and they will pop you! Be sure to slow down.
