Buffalo, Texas Speed Traps
The speed is 45 to top of little hill, then suddenly it is 30. Beware.
The local cop sits in the grocery store parking lot facing east on hwy79 so if you are heading west on 79 as soon as you break the crest of the hill past the shell station on the right he has you on radar on the downhill slope.
The northbound interstate I-45 between Centerville and Buffalo (Leon County), is straights and/or flats and has no exit ramps for nearly 15 miles. The spot is Centerville + 7 miles north. Landmark is Keechi Creek + 3.3 miles north. Look for the needles eye bridge where County Road 304 / Co Rd 314 bridge goes over I-45. The patrol car is inside the needle eye, behind the center bridge pilar, and also protected by said pilar. The line of sight from bridge pilar looking at northbound cars is 3/4 mile or more. From Co Rd 304 / Co Rd 314 bridge, drive 7 miles north to reach hwy 79 / Buffalo.
Speed trap as you head out of Buffalo going east on Highway 79 as you approach the school. He sits on the north side of highway next to some trees.
Watch out oil field traffic! This city has long been known for ticketing cdl drivers…..especially oil field traffic…..which they have an abundance of. As soon as you enter town, slow to 40. If you don’t they will get you! 40 is way too slow……should be 50, but it is what it is and watch out. They will let you defer the ticket for an additional 75 bucks, but total cost me 235 for going 52 in a 40. Could have used that money elsewhere.
