Burleson, Texas Speed Traps
Interstate 35
Single Motorcycle cop hits you with a laser gun, while stationary from overpass, but stills is able to beat you to the on-ramp to pull you over…..must be one fast motorcycle!
NE McAlister Rd.
NE McAlister Rd. from NW Renfro St. to I-35W the speed limit is 30 MPH and the city police love to sit in the side streets and issue tickets. Traffic is picking up on NE McAlister Rd. now that all the new retail is growing by I-35W and the number of tickets are growing as well.
SW Johnson Ave.
SW Johnson Ave. from NW Renfro St. to SW Wilshire Blvd. is about 3 miles long but the speed limit is set at 30 MPH because there is a 200 yard frontage to Warren Park. The city police have started setting up daily. The 85 percentile average is close to 45 MPH but the limit remains set at 30 MPH.
NW Renfro St.
On NW Renfro St. from NE Alsbury Blvd. to NE McAlister Road the speed limit is artificially low at 30 MPH. Twenty feet past McAlister it is still residential but the speed limit is 40 MPH. City police set up three blocks east of the 40 MPH speed limit and nail you with laser.
Alsbury Boulevard near Renfro Street
Just discovered this site, and was surprised this trap wasn’t listed for Burleson. As you go towards 35W on Alsbury from 731, you go up a slight incline to Renfro, then head downhill. On the right side of the street, under some low hanging shade trees just as the road levels out, are often found a couple of Burleson’s finest. Their presence is sporadic, but I know several folks whom they’ve stopped. Gotta hit your brakes comin’ down that hill folks.
Their radar is calibrated high. They clocked me at 49, and I was doing the legal limit (35) at the top of the hill. No way I picked up 14 mph in that distance. I didn’t argue and they let me off with a “be more careful””. Burleson cops are strange. I won’t bore you with the time I think one of them stole my rabbit.”
