Denton, Texas Speed Traps
Edwards Road 1/4 mile from Mayhill
Cop sitting a the top of a hill pulling people over as they come up the hill. I don’t think he’s actually scanning them, just pulling them over and telling them they are speeding. He had the ticket issued within 60 seconds.
Between Tarreny Parkway North
Airshow this weekend and they are out like stinkbugs in June
All three train crossings.
Not a speed trap, but a very expensive ticket! The cops are targeting the train crossings, taking advantage of drivers not knowing current laws. At train crossings, you must stop or remain stopped as long as the RED flashing lights are active. If you go through a crossing as the arm is raising and the lights are flashing RED you will get a ticket. If approaching a crossing and the lights starts flashing, even though the crossing arms are not lowering, you will get a ticket. I received a ticket, even though I would not be able to safely stop. The ticket is $255.00 .
Right on McCormmick and 35
Right as your pulling up on the curve on 35 going North, to exit McCormmick, there’s a police officer under the exit sign with a radar and to the left (on the service road) you’ll see about 4-5 squad cars waiting to be given the signal to pull you over. This usually happens at least once a month and they mix it up, sometimes in the beginning of the month, sometimes at the end of the month.
35 heading south, passing UNT stadium
Speed limit on 35 drops to 55 as you head south past the UNT Stadium. Weekend and evenings, police are on the verge. It’s a legitimate speed transition zone for the area, it’s just very unexpected.
