Denton, Texas Speed Traps
N Loop 288
Traveling south on N Loop 288, approaching Highway 380, there are several of the bright orange and black signs notifying of construction ahead. None of these have a reduced speed limit. However, just before cresting the overpass that carries traffic over the state highway there is a standard black and white sign. This reduces the speed limit from 60mph to 40mph at a point where simply lifting your foot off the gas, without applying the brake, almost ensures a speed 15 to 20mph over the limit as you crest the overpass into the radar.

Dallas Drive near Hopkins Street
About once a month the local police will set up a radar on tripod on Hopkins facing south on Dallas drive. I’ve counted as many as 4 patrol cars and 2 motorcycles. They are targeting cars off ramping I35 that have not slowed there vehicles all the way from 60mph to 45mph. They stay so busy giving tickets that the radar officer sometimes will be standing and waiting for 1 of the 5 patrol cars to get free. They come in once a month, collect a huge sum of revenue and then leave again until the next month. If they really wanted to stop this they would stay there for a week, but stopping it is not their intention. It is a speed trap reserved for high revenue intake for the city of Denton.
