Irving, Texas Speed Traps
Eastbound 114, Esters Blvd overpass + 0.5 mile
Motorcycle looking at cars driving the very rightmost lane (4 lanes eastbound). While you might be watching for cars entering 114 from Esters boulevard, and considering a courtesy lane change if need be, the motorcycle cop might be take advantage of your head turned right, and clocking your speed while you are not looking forward. Motorcycle cop was wearing black driver suit – hard to spot in time (laser & scope/binocular assisted aim). Speed limit 60 mph.
Westbound Hwy 114 x 161 Bush Turnpike + 3/4 mile west
W.B. Hwy 114 (John W. Carpenter Freeway): motorcycle at hill crest, patrol car just before N Beltline exit ramp. Three westbound lanes 60 mph. W John Carpenter Fwy (feeder)terminates in 114 entrance ramp right after hill crest. Landmarks on right hand are Longhorn Drive, and a small lake without name.
Rochelle Blvd & Decker Dr
Coming up to 114 from Rochelle the speed limit is 30. A motorcycle cop will tag northbound traffic at Decker Dr. here in the morning until about 8 AM. You won’t see him until it’s too late as the tall bushes on the right side of the road and curve of the road hide him all the way. Do not speed through here at all.
Rochelle Blvd & Hidalgo St
This is a very well hid cop. There is a new housing area on the right hand side going northbound past Northgate. The gate area into the housing area is recessed and a motorcycle cop will hide behind the wall and point his radar around the corner at oncoming traffic. Speed limit is 30 through here. Do not speed past this entrance area as you will never see the cop until you’re at him, at which point he had you before you ever could notice him.
W Northgate Drive
A motorcycle officer tends to sit behind the sign to the entrance to the apts. on the south side of Northgate Dr. between Valley View Ln. and 161. The speed limit there is 35 mph and it’s easy to get your speed up between those two streets if you’re going east bound to 161. I have seen him there about 2 times a week.
