Irving, Texas Speed Traps
I635 between MacArthur and George Bush
Irving police officer sits behind concrete barricade. Unseen until he comes out with the lights on to pull you over.
Northon Beltline Rd. between Shady Grove and Rock Island
North on Beltline Rd. in southwest Irving, the speed limit is 45. Suddenly right past Shady Grove, the speed limit slows to 35 even though there aren’t any houses and few businesses. There is a group of warehouses on the east side of the road where the motorcycle cop can hide around the corner and clock you without you being able to see him. No Irving motorcycle cops ever write warnings. If you get pulled over by one, you are guaranteed a ticket.
westbound I-635 service road, MacArthur Blvd + 0.4 miles
Motorcycle at Bryson Rd "yield before turning right" island. The Walton Blvd leading to nearby WalMart has same kind of grass island but is not preferred. Bryson Rd to Rosche Dr back to Bryson is a 0.3 mile loop for moto and exercised during noon hours. Cars often pull over to Rosche Dr for ticketing. Bryson Rd has less "hit in the back" traffic from Walmart direction, and is also obscured by right hand 30 degree road banking where "hills" meets with interstate valley. Walton Rd is not preferred because cars will slow down for right turn to WalMart obscuring faster moving cars and invalidating laser and radar readouts.
Westbound Hwy 114 about 1.1 mile before DFW airport
Black Dodge Charger with laser (..or motorcycle). Parked at grass median, measuring westbound 114 cars that arrive over crest of the bridge deck for Freeport Pkwy. Landmark is upphill right after freeport exit ramp, DFW airport on the left, Whataburger on left, exit ramp for DFW airport/121 North on right hand. Speed limit 60 mph.
Westbound Hwy 114, Esters Blvd bridge
Motorcycle had pulled over car on flat section of Hwy 114 between Ester Blvd and Freeport Pkwy. The Beltline Rd to Esters Blvd is 0.7 miles straightline. The Esters to Freeport is a 0.5mi straightline. The many distractions are: 1) Beltline to 114 entry ramp, and 2) Esters exit and 3) Hwy bend to the left, and 4) bridge and 5) Esters Blvd to 114 entry ramp. Watch out for motorcycle or car in grassy median. A continuous median barrier cable divides the east and westbound 114 lanes, with westbound side having most of the grass median. Possible laser spot is at Esters to 114 entry ramp, obscured partially by the sloped bridge abutment.
