Plano, Texas Speed Traps

Two motorcycle cops will stand behind the trees in the median closer to Plano Pkwy here. They will walk out in the middle of the street & flag you into the left turn lane. No slack was given here. Gotta watch out cause the speed limit is 35, but going downhill we all tend to creep up to 42-45 easily. That is where they get you.

Motorcycle cops with Laser stake out this stretch of road, in particular, on Saturday mornings. They aren’t always there, but seem to appear every couple of months. I have seen them three times in the past 6 months. Problem is, traffic is always very light at that time of day and it is very easy to be a lone target when they are there. I have been ticketed twice now. Each time doing what I and what most drivers I see in Plano doing everyday: safely driving a bit over 50 in a 40.

Enforcement in the school zone is very common in the afternoon (not that I have a problem with this) but make sure you don’t forget about it when stopped at the stop light in the middle of it. I have seen both officers on foot with radar guns and support motor cycles and a white unmarked cruiser parked in a parking lot shooting out the window.

Early Saturday & Sunday mornings there is always a cop on the bridge checking your speed, and there are 2-3 cops on both exist ramps going north & south. If you are smart start to look for them as soon as you see the bridge in the distance!

Plano police told me that every Monday they have a speed trap somewhere. If its Monday, somewhere in Plano there will be a speed trap.
