Texas City, Texas Speed Traps
25th Street near 197 Loop
There is a driveway at the corner of 25th Street (Logan) and Loop 197 to a cabinet shop that is no longer in business. The police, align themselves in this driveway with the “nose”” of their car pointing in a southeasterly direction to be able to catch traffic going west on the loop and north and south on 25th street. (from about 5:30am then again at 4:30pm)”
FM 146 S near FM 517
Going south on FM 146 from Kemah to Texas City. From FM 717 you have to go over a large bridge. At FM 517 the speed drops to 45 from 60. There will be no more posts for 3 miles out of the trap. 3 or more police, or Sheriffs deputies work both sides of the bridge North and South. They sit 2 abreast on the feeder below the bridge. They are rude and accept no explanation. They run wants and warrents, Auto theft, writing your ticket all the while.
21st Street near Palmer Avenue
This is the parking lot around the Post Office. A City officer sits there in the very early morning when it is still dark, lights off, waiting to catch you going more than the 30 MPH posted speed. At 4-6 AM, there is not enough traffic to warrant that low a speed. I have seen the officer pull someone over for less than 5 miles over the limit.
