Lynnwood, Washington Speed Traps
State Route 526 near State Highway 99
Northbound 525, just before hwy 99. The speed limit drops from 60 to 45 just before the exit from 525 to hwy 99. There isn’t much space between the speed limit warning and actual change. WSP (Sheriff?) aim from the other sided of 99. A friend of mine was stopped for slowing down as he passed the speed limit sign.
Oh, and they stopped the same friend the next day to make sure his registration was signed…and he wasn’t speeding.
52nd Avenue near 208th Street
Often staked out by cruisers. Schools nearby but not clear postings about it being a school zone. Speed limit is 25 mph on a 4 lane wide road with both bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides.
Alderwood Mall Boulevard near 48th Avenue
Lynnwood cycle cops working in 2’s & 3’s hide just southwest of the overpass in the furniture store parking lot, behind bushes, or in bus barn area. It’s posted to slow to 30 M.P.H. It’s a huge tickett source for the city.
Interstate 5 near Exit Number 181-B
State Patrol troopers in cars are on the HOV exit/on ramp above the interstate taking speed readings from both directions, although from my vantage point they are primarily aimed at Northbound vehicles.
