Alderwood Mall Boulevard near Residence Inn Alderwood

Lynnwood, WashingtonMay 15, 20070 Comments

Motorcycle officer waits in Residence Inn parking lot ticketing all cars over the speed limit. None of the people I saw cited (including myself) were causing any danger. They were with the flow of traffic and often turning into one of the many shopping areas in that vicinity, resulting in their speeding infractions being for very short distances at best. A true speed that enabled the officer to write a number of tickets in an extremely short period of time as he was there during lunch hour for the many businesses that surround that area.

Near the Perrinville area – Motorcycle police hide in the bushes just north of 186th Street SW / 72nd ave west on Olympic View Drive, scanning traffic as drivers pass from the Edmonds area into Lynnwood limits and vice versa. The posted speed is 30 but most locals go 40+, except during the early AM, when traffic is slow.

168th Street near 56th Street

Lynnwood, WashingtonSep 09, 20050 Comments

East of the Meadowdale High School, there is a new city park with a shallow drive in/parking area. Regularly there are several motorcycle policemen hidden behind the large rocks and shrubbery which provides them an excellent view of the oncoming traffic.
The posted speed limit is 30mph, and since it is directly next door to a high school, they diminish the speed limit down to 20mph when students are present.
Anyone can tell you with as wide as 168th is (2 lanes each way + suicide lane) even 30mph is redicluously slow. 20mph is unthinkable, and you had better pay attention to the flashing yellow lights signifying that there may be students around. Fines double when these lights are lit.
