Renton, Washington Speed Traps
Frequently, I will see from my apartment an unmarked black SUV pulling people in to the Starbucks parking lot. About every five to ten minutes during the entirety of morning rush hour he’s got somebody.
Speed limit just got dropped from 35 to 25 by the City. After coming off of a 45 mph or a 40 mph you run into this which is NOT a neighborhood road, it’s a thoroughfare. The motorcylce cops have been cherry picking almost daily to the tume of $124 a pop!
The speed trap sits in a pitch black section of road, on the bottom of two very steep hills, cops frequently monitor in pairs with radar guns.
Motorcycle cop sits on side walk and can get you from either direction. East of 405 heading east or west of golf course heading west. Big coffee shop there.
Southbound, a school zone appears around a blind corner. The speed limit drops from 30 mph to 20 mph instantly. There are flashing lights for the school zone, but tickets are issued using photo enforcement. Even without the flashing lights engaged, tickets are issued during and around school hours under the "when children present" clause.
