Vancouver, Washington Speed Traps

A few nights a week there are Vancouver Police cars sitting in the driveway of the Washington State Patrol/State DEQ/Vancouver DOL combined lot. I’ve gotten 3 tickets going through here, the lowest was 42 in this 35mph zone.

Sunday afternoon, "overtime opportunity", classic speed trap exploiting a poorly marked short distance 50 MPH (former)construction zone in an otherwise 60 MPH area. Construction is now nearly complete, but the area is still posted 50 MPH via one set of signs several miles south of the trap. As the WSP officer said, "I’ve been writing tickets as fast as I can all day". Big tickets, as the prevailing speed is typically 65 MPH.

Washington State Patrol running several unmarked SUV’s (Ford Explorer) and a few unmarked cars. They use radar and pace. If you see ANY vehicle with Washington plates ending with "WSP", i.e. 428 WSP, it IS an unmarked trooper!
