Folsom, California Speed Traps
Oak Avenue Parkway near Baldwin Dam Road
Speed lowers when traveling East from American River Parkway towards Folsom-Auburn Road. Known for speed tickets. Police car is usually parked on Baldwin Dam Road to catch cars that do not stop at the stop sign at Baldwin Dam Road. This last is most commonly patrolled after dark and early morning hours.
Folsom-Auburn Road near Greenback Lane
Intersection is known to have the trafic lights turn red in all directions and stay this way for 10 minutes. Do not go through the light thinking the lights are broken, or you will immediately be followed by a police car that comes from nowhere to give you a red light violation. The explanation is that the lights are cycling through a change (whatever that means). The officer stated that you should sit there until the lights change to green for you to go, as the lights were not flashing red. This has happened periodically at different times in the day. The time I was cited was at 5:00 AM on a Sunday morning of Memorial Weekend. Two Police cars happened to appear from nowhere after I had sat at the light for 5 minutes and then realized the light must be broken and slowly made my way across the intersection with no other cars viewable in all directions. I experienced the same scenario at 2 PM in the afternoon on a Saturday and 5:00 PM on a week night during rush hour. Cars were backed up to Hwy 50 on Folsom Blvd. During times of heavy traffic drivers treat the intersection as broken and take turns as if at a four way stop. However, this is not correct per the Officers on patrol.
Blue Ravine Road near Right before East Bidwell Street
There is a school between Oak Avenue Parkway and East Bidwell Street. During morning school hours there is always at least one motorcycle officer sitting in front of the school using a radar gun.
State Highway 50 near US Highway 50 Prairie City exit
Motorcycle cops sit back off of Freeway.
Scott Road near US Highway 50
Scott Rd. south of highway 50 goes over one hill (southbound) before intersecting White Rock. Last week a CHP was tucked on the right shoulder just behind the hill. Since people like to open up their cars a bit on these open roads south of 50, my guess is that CHP is looking for big violations here, not just a few mph over.
