PCH & First Avenue   Seal Beach, California

Its not a speed trap, but I've seen 3 DUI checkpoints set up here in the past few months..so if you've had a glass of wine with dinner and you need to go South on PCH from Long Beach or Belmont Shore on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared.

US Highway 1 PCH near Seal Beach Boulevard   Seal Beach, California

There is a driveway to the Naval Weapons Station on the northbound side of PCH halfway over the bridge between Sunset and Seal Beach, Seal Beach Police hides to catch speeders there. Posted limit is 50 MPH, but people regularly exceed that.

Westminster Avenue near Seal Beach Boulevard   Seal Beach, California

This stretch of road through the Seal Beach Naval Weapons station a notorious speed trap. Posted speed limit is 55. But, the road is 5 lanes wide (2 each way plus suicide lane) and there are no turns or side streets. So traffic speeds actually exceed 65. Motorcycle officer is usually hiding behind a power pole on the north shoulder, a few hundred meters before the rail crossing near Seal Beach Blvd. He's looking for speeders headed west on Westminster.

State Highway 1 near Seal Beach Boulevard   Seal Beach, California

Motorcycle cop in the dirt shoulder just at the bottom of the S.B. side of PCH as you go over the Anaheim Bay bridge. Pegged me for going 63 in a 'posted' 45 zone. Prevailing traffic is usually 60- 70 mph.

Not a jerk (actually , a polite cop), but definitely out to raise money.
