Franklin Avenue   Bend, Oregon

Bend city police have recently (summer 2010) been using radar traps at various points along Franklin Avenue, usually between Third Street and the railroad bridge, or around Sixth Street near the high school. They will park in a visible location on a side street. The speed limit on Franklin Avenue is 25 MPH until west of the bridge, where it drops to 20. Most traffic moves at around 35 MPH, so during tourist season it is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Neff/Penn/Olney Avenues near Pilot Butte Elementary   Bend, Oregon

This street changes names three times. At its west end, it is called Olney. Then it changes to Penn, and by the school it becomes Neff and remains Neff. At the school, the 20 MPH limit is strictly enforced during school hours. Bend Police (cars and motorcycles) routinely hide in the school parking lots or in nearby streets.

S Hwy 97 & Romaine Village Way   Bend, Oregon

OSP and Deschutes Sheriff active approaching Bend from the south. This is a 4 lane 55 mph section and people usually go faster than that. When going down hill past Lava Butte and then weight station, watch out because there are several tiny right hand turns the traffic police use to sit. These are all N-bound, one is just past the Lava Butte visitor center (usually sheriff), one is a the bottom of the same pass (osp mostly), and often they are even sitting farther down by the weight area. there is a median here so they really do concentrate on northbound traffic. Sometimes even forest service Rangers use radar in this area, though I really wonder if thats legal. In the summer it is a safe drive and traffic goes fast, but in the winter slow down because it is VERY dangerous sometimes at Lava Butte. Sometimes DCSO sits at the crest of Lava Butte going south, this is usually late at night and I think they are looking for DWIs

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
