Phoenix, Arizona Speed Traps
1-10 Off-Ramp & Westbound (Buckeye St) to 16th Street
This is a six (6) lane divided highway that is thirty-five (35) miles per hour. There is no reason to have the speed at thirty-five (35) miles per hour. The officer who stopped us stated it was because there were big trucks pulling out of the drive-way, but in my two (2) years driving around here, I have never seen a big rig, much less a big truck pull out of any drive-way. I have seen about fifty (50) ticketed motorists since then and I work inside most of the day.
The motor cops love to sit hidden in traffic and behind the signs with their radar gun. It is a speed trap heaven for them.
35th Ave just south of Dunlap
The photoradar van parks just a little south of Dunlap, across from the apartments next to the circle K he’s hiding just past the bus stop & has the signs in front of the bushes where they’re difficult to see.
Peoria Ave between 43rd Ave & 39th ave
Speedtrap van parks on the sidewalk on the south (eastbound) side of Peoria Ave. Places the warning signs in front of trees & bushes so they aren’t real obvious. Alternates between this site and 43rd ave South of Peoria ave in front of the charter school. They’ve been working these two sites for about 2 months now.
43rd Ave South of Peoria in front of charter school
Photo radar van parked on sidewalk between the charter schools driveways on the north bound (east) side. Alternates between this position and the south side of Peoria between 39th ave. & 43rd ave.
7th St and Northern
Motorcycle cop hidden in the make-a-wish foundation parking lot. He sits there in the morning on the south side of Northern waiting for Morning traffic to speed by on the way to the 51. He changes it up a bit as well and moves east and west on Northern between 7th st and 18th st. Officer is a decent guy, but he does write the ticket everytime. I see him every morning with someone pulled over and he got me because he moved on me from his previous location.
