Damascus, Arkansas Speed Traps
Any part of town, almost always see local police cruising or sitting off the road running radar. Town is really small with overkill amount of patrolmen.
on either end of Damascus
speed drops from 60 to 45 mph but have seen officers stop folks 1-2 miles outside of city limits
Approx. 2 miles out of town going south
My husband was driving he is 64 years old nothing on his driving record. We were pulled over and told that he was driving 62 miles all through town. We live in an area where there are 45 mile an hour speeding signs everywhere, you would think that if he drove 17 miles over the speed limit he would have multiple speeding tickets on his record. I am very disappointed that when someone is in a position to help serve justice, they are unjust. I have read on here that it does no good to go to the town to fight the ticket, where is the justice. I guess I will have to choose rather to pay an attorney the money or the Damascus Police Dept. I have called the Mayor and was told he is in and out, but so far no return call. I have also read on this site that they give over 200 tickets a month out to people from out of town, this is because it is cheaper to pay it than to go back to the town, but like I said earlier if you go to court without an attorney you still pay the ticket. I am ready to call whoever I have too, to make this stop happening.
Damascus will stop out of state cars, because they know they will just pay the ticket to keep from coming back. They issue 200+ tickets every month to out of state drivers.
Town of Damascus, Arkansas
a 4 lane road, with one sign up that says 45 miles per hour. You don’t have time to slow down and they are on you. BUT, they will make a deal and not give you a speeding ticket , if you will sign an unsafe driving ticket. You find out later that it is for 280 dollars!! A town can’t get but 60% of its revenue from speeding tickets. This is how they get around it. What do they do with all that money??
