El Cajon, California Speed Traps
State Highway 52 West near Interstate 15
Hide along the center median barrier most weekday afternoons – counter the commute traffic which is typically congested going the other way.
State Highway CA125 near Exit Number Grossmont College
Officers watch from the Grossmont College exit ramp perched on a hill. Cars travelling at a safe speed along 125 N find themselves on a steep grade after the summit by the school. Unless they ride their brakes the whole hill it’s very likely they will be speeding and the cops love it. At the bottom of the hill there have been many serious accidents with speeders who fly through the light at Mission Gorge, but for drivers connecting to 52W it’s fairly safe.
Interstate 8 east near State Highway 67
When you are traveling on 8 east or west and see the 67 highway slow down, if your going east he will hide under the bridge behind the column supports to the right that nice wide to the right is his home for shooting and just fyi when you come down that sloped part of 8 east he gives no breaks for the grade of that slope. If you are traveling west his friends hide to the right off the side of the road behind or where that grassy area is just where you wouldn’t suspect them.
Fletcher Drive near Cuyamaca Street
This is a radar trap with a nice motorcycle police officer that waits for speeders comming down the big hill on Fletcher, into El Cajon, just before Parkway Boweling Alley. The speed limet is 50mph, but there is always someone who thinks they can get away with it, and that is when they see the big blinking lights in their mirror. It is not hard to go over the speed limit on this downward side of the long hill.
Weld Boulevard near Cumbre Street
It is a 5% down grade at 2000 Weld BLVD. The speed limit is 40MPH. Cops wait for you right before the road that takes you to the factories, Cumbre Pl to be exact. You would have to pay more attention to your speedometer than the road to keep a steady 40MPH seed. Now whats more unsafe, going too fast or not seeing where you are going?
