Hollywood, California Speed Traps
Motorcycle cop or patrol vehicle is stationed in a driveway or side street looking for speeders on Los Feliz Blvd. where it is easy to exceed posted speed limit of 35 mph.
A motorcycle cop hides in an alley or commercial driveway across the street from the Avalon nightclub, near the Capitol Records tower. This is just where the slope of the hill on Vine starts to increase, so northbound cars tend to speed up in order to compensate for the incline. This is also where club kids jaywalk across Vine — eager to get into Avalon — without first pressing the crosswalk button. You’re usually pulled over before you even reach Franklin — a hundred yards up the street!
On the south side of Beverly as it goes through Wilshire country club there is a small golf course maintenance entrance where motorcycle officers park and wait with their radar guns for anyone speeding through that stretch of the street.
On Cahuenga going south towards where it turns into Highland there is an underpass at the entrance of Hillpark. Motorcycle officers park and wait with their radar guns for anyone speeding through that stretch of the street.
Routinely there are 2 motorcycle officers patrolling this area between 10 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m. They have someone pulled over almost every day I drive from 1-3 p.m. They ticket for cell phone, speeding, illegal lane changes, pretty much anything they can pull someone over for these 2 officers do. They often hang out by the hospital there on Olympic/San Vincente, but are usually sitting near Curson/San Vicente. Always, always are pulling people over. Very patrolled area especially on the weekdays.
